Hirkani Foundation, Satara

Founder, President

For Women Empowerment and Breast Cancer Awareness. As a woman ‘Covid Warrior’ from Satara, Jayshree has been selflessly serving Covid patients and their relatives day and night for the past year and a half, supporting them in every way along with her Hirkani Foundation team.

She has been a familiar face outside Satara Civil Hospital, providing tiffins to Covid patients and their relatives when most people feared stepping out. Setting aside her family responsibilities for the past year, Jayshree made herself available round the clock, always just a call away for those who weren’t getting beds, ambulances, medicines, plasma, blood and oxygen. In the inaccessible hilly areas of Jawali, she formed the Jawali Covid Emergency Group, raised funds, and herself ferried Covid patients to hospital on her scooty. She tended to patients at the Satara Jumbo Covid Centre, sitting up whole nights personally tending to them and connecting their oxygen tubes.

She even performed the last rites of those who succumbed to Covid. After Covid cases dropped, she has been helping widows of Covid victims stand on their own feet economically, and is helping their children continue their education by providing them with books and study materials. She organised blood donation camps, plasma donation camps, health check-up camps, and facilitated oxygen machines. Her Hirkani Foundation has been distributing food kits to poor families and continues to provide guidance for treatment of Covid patients, offer counselling, and is helping delivery of medicines to the elderly. Going forward, her Hirkani group is planning to continue their work to serve people.
